Book Covers

I’m sure you have all heard the saying that is “Don’t Judge a Book By It’s Cover”. When people say that saying, however, they are often referring to a person or an object. People often tell you not to ridicule others because of how they look, but did you realize people often do the same thing to books?

Although you might not think about it, when looking to buy a new book, you often gravitate towards the novels with the bright, chic covers that look interesting. Not all books with amazing covers are actually good, while at the same time, sometimes books with the most boring and ugliest covers contain the best stories inside. Like people, what you first see when you look at a book isn’t always a reflection of what’s on the inside.

As seen above, book shops have begun covering the covers of books.

Because people often judge books by their covers, various shops and organizations have begun covering the book covers, as well as sometimes even hiding the book title, so that the content is a surprise. I love this idea considering I myself often find myself buying the books that look cool and cute from the outside. Covering book covers can allow people to experience new book and read stories that they would have never read based on just the covers.

Would you participate in buying a book, unsure of what the cover looks like? Do you also find yourself buying books based on their physical appearance?

I hope you enjoyed this quick and little post 🙂 Thanks for reading!

Here is a post that I originally published on my original blog (nomdeplume). I am now reposting it here (on theardentliterate) because it goes better with the theme of this blog.
